With summer weather quickly approaching, homeowners without air conditioners may be looking for ways to lower the temperature when the warm weather and humidity hits. If you are looking for an efficient and flexible option, we recommend installing a ductless air conditioner.

Most of us are familiar with air conditioning systems that integrate with a furnace and ductwork, or smaller room units that fit in a window. One option that many people are not aware of is the ductless (sometimes called “mini-split”) air conditioner. Ductless air conditioners offer a number of advantages over other air conditioners and they may be the best choice for your home.

1. No ductwork? No problem!

Homes with electric or boiler heat won’t have ductwork to tie into a central air conditioner. Ductless systems don’t require ductwork, and that makes them a great option when ducts aren’t present.

2. Bonus rooms

Many homes have a “bonus room” above a garage, a loft, or in other locations where ductwork doesn’t reach or cool efficiently. Ductless systems are excellent for these spaces as they can provide comfort that’s independent of the home’s main cooling and heating system.

3. High efficiency

The leading ductless air conditioning brands offer unsurpassed efficiency. They are typically better than most central air conditioner systems and far more efficient than window-mounted air conditioners.

4. Heating too!

Most ductless manufacturers offer heat pump options to keep your space cool and reduce humidity in the summer, but they can also heat your space in the winter. This is a big advantage when conditioning a space that has poor or no central heating.

5. Room-to-room custom comfort

Installing multi-head ductless systems allows you to choose different temperatures for different rooms. This means that areas that aren’t being used or don’t have to be cooled or heated aren’t using energy unnecessarily.

6. A Ductless Air Conditioner Provides Excellent flexibility

Ductless air conditioners (and heat pumps) are available with a wide variety of different indoor heads. This includes wall mounted, floor mounted, or built-in ceiling heads and units that can be connected to new or existing ductwork. There is almost no limit to where a ductless air conditioner system can be installed.
