ALL ABOUT DUCTLESS AIR CONDITIONING
For many homeowners, a ductless air conditioning system is the way to go. Our experts at Cross Heating & Air Conditioning will always assess your cooling needs and steer you in the right direction.
Here are some answers to common questions about ductless air conditioning. And remember our team is always available to answer anyother questions you have about ductless AC.
HOW DOES DUCTLESS AC WORK?
A ductless AC is also called a mini-split because the system is split into 2 parts. There is an indoor unit that disperses air into the room it’s installed in. An outdoor unit acts as the air intake and compresses outdoor air to cool it.
These units are connected by refrigerant tubing and wires. Air is cooled and passed directly from the outside to your living space.
WHERE CAN I INSTALL DUCTLESS A/C?
A ductless AC is also called a mini-split because the system is split into 2 parts. There is an indoor unit that disperses air into the room it’s installed in. An outdoor unit acts as the air intake and compresses outdoor air to cool it.

Where Can I Install Ductless A/C?
Ductless AC installations are extremely versatile. The only thing necessary for a successful install is fresh air for the outside unit and the ability to make a hole in the wall. The indoor blower unit is mounted to a wall in an inconspicuous location. Or in some cases set within your ceiling.
The outdoor unit must be outside, but can be placed strategically to minimize noise and improve aesthetics. Tubing and wires can connect inside and outside pieces over a distance.
Does Ductless AC Need to be Vented?
No. One of the great benefits is that you do not need venting when you install a mini-split cooling system. There is no carbon monoxide or other dangerous gases produced by this type of air conditioner. So open-air access to the outdoor unit is all you need for proper system ventilation.
Is Ductless AC Good for My Air Quality?
Ductless air conditioning units use an air filter in their process. This means that the air coming into your home is purified and safe for you and your family. Allergens, dust, and mites in the outside air are trapped before this cooled air enters your rooms.
Can I Cool Multiple Rooms?
Yes! A multi-zone ductless AC system does just this. With a multi-zone ductless AC system, we can mount indoor blower units to as many rooms as you prefer.
One of the great benefits of a ductless system is that you can decide when and where to cool each room by controlling each individual blower. And in most cases, all these units can be connected to a single outdoor compressor.
How Much Does Ductless AC Cost?
The price of installing ductless air conditioning in your home depends on what type of system you’re looking for. Your system’s features and capacity affect the final price. Generally, the more rooms you are looking to cool the more expensive an installation will be.
The good news is that ductless AC Cooling can usually save you money in the long run due to its increased efficiency. Our HVAC experts will tell you exactly what your costs will be before any installation.
