What Are HRV & ERV?
Both HRV and ERV systems help to maintain healthy air in your home by transferring out old air, and filtering in new, fresh air. The comfort advisors at Cross Heating & Air Conditioning can help you choose based on your lifestyle and home needs.
The main difference between the 2 types is: HRV transfers heat and ERV transfers heat and moisture.
HRV
The HRV system removes old air from your home, passing it through the HRV and warming the plates of the heat exchanger. After this, it introduces fresh outdoor air into your home, which passes through the HRV and is warmed by the heat stored in the plates of the heat exchanger.
ERV
The ERV system works very similarly to HRV, forcing old air out of your home, passing it through the system and warming plates of a heat exchanger. Then, it brings fresh air in, passing it through the system, warmed by the heat stored in the plates of the exchanger.
While the ERV does this, it transfers some of the moisture from the outgoing air into the incoming air to help regulate the humidity levels in your home.

During your evaluation your Comfort Consultant will explore your home’s needs, inspect your system and document any concerns or feedback.
They will then create a personalized solution for your home.
Recommendation
Your Comfort Consultant will present options tailored to your comfort, budget and system requirements.
Any questions you may have are answered transparently before any decisions are made. And once you’re ready we’ll finalize your preferred solution, schedule installation and discuss payment plans.
Installation
Upon arrival, our technician will park appropriately outside, wear shoe covers, and take time to connect with you, answering any initial questions.
During your installation your technician will take special care to ensure a clean and efficient work space in order to give you the most professional and high-quality installation service possible.
After installation, we’ll check in to ensure you’re delighted with the service and your system is running perfectly.
