Exciting News for Waterloo, Listowel, and Hanover Homeowners! A new opportunity has arrived for those looking to enhance their homes with energy-efficient upgrades. The Home Renovation Savings (HRS) program is now available, offering substantial rebates on home improvements! While the program is through the Government of Ontario, Save On Energy and Enbridge, here at Cross Heating & Air Conditioning, we’re standing by to guide you through the program and help you get the most out of your savings. Our team has been southern Ontario’s preferred choice for heat pump installation since 1987. We’re proud to offer free consultations and workmanship warranties designed for your satisfaction and ongoing comfort.  Let’s dive in and learn more about the HRS program!

What You Need To Know About The Home Renovation Savings Program

The Government of Ontario, Save On Energy and Enbridge Gas have joined forces to offer significant savings to Ontario homeowners through the new Home Renovation Savings Program. You’ll now have more choice when it comes to home comfort upgrades, with flexible options for impressive savings.   The program offers both bundled and non-bundled options for Enbridge supplied homes connected to the Ontario electricity grid.   As with many rebates programs around the country, additions and tweaks are always being made to better serve residents, so we’ll do our best to update you as new information becomes available!

Bundled Options - The Home Energy Assessment Stream

The bundled options require a minimum of two qualifying upgrades to be installed. You must also undergo a home energy assessment audit to qualify for rebates.  A qualified, registered energy advisor will inspect your home and recommend energy-saving opportunities. To help offset the cost of the initial assessment, and the post-assessment, homeowners will receive up to $600 after successful completion of the HRS program. Once you receive your upgrade recommendations, pick any two then have the installation completed by your preferred HVAC contractor, like us! Then schedule your final, follow up assessment and receive your rebates once your advisor signs off on the new equipment! It’s important to note that you only have 180 days once you schedule the initial assessment to have your equipment installed in order to be eligible, so don’t wait!

No Home Energy Assessment Stream

If you’re only looking to upgrade one piece of equipment this year, then the single-measure, no assessment option is for you!   Eligible equipment upgrades include heat pumps, solar panels, battery storage and smart thermostats. Qualifying equipment options must be listed on Natural Resources Canada’s qualifying product list and be installed by a licensed, participating contractor…again, like us!   This is where things get really exciting, if you choose to upgrade your home heating and cooling system to a heat pump, you could enjoy rebates of up to $10,000! How incredible is that? So if you’ve been considering heat pump installation, now is truly the time. No matter which stream you choose, rebates are only available on a first come, first serve basis. So contact us today to get started and to learn more about your options.

Benefits of Heat Pump Installation

Ok so your chosen upgrade is a heat pump, that’s so exciting! Here are some of the numerous benefits you’ll get to enjoy once installed.

Energy Efficiency

Heat pumps offer better energy-efficiency compared to many furnaces, which means you’ll use less energy throughout the year by saving your gas furnace for when you really need it during Ontario’s coldest days.

Cost Savings

Due to their higher energy efficiency, heat pumps lead to lower energy bills over time.

Environmental Impact

Reduced energy consumption also means a smaller carbon footprint, contributing to environmental conservation.

Dual Functionality

Heat pumps provide both heating and cooling, offering a versatile climate control solution for all seasons.   While these are great benefits, it’s important to note that heat pumps are only as good as their installation process. Below we’ll go over why you should hire the professional and experienced installation team at Cross Heating & Air Conditioning.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to install a heat pump?

The cost for heat pump installation greatly depends on the type of equipment you choose. Most heat pump systems can range anywhere from $12,000-$20,000. But with rebate programs like the Home Renovation Savings Program, or our flexible financing options, heat pump installation has never been more affordable!

How long does it take to install a heat pump?

Heat pump installation can take anywhere from 1-2 days depending on the equipment type and complexity of the installation area. But with our comprehensive evaluation and recommendations, you’ll have all the information necessary, including a timeline estimate, before any work begins.

Can a heat pump completely replace a furnace?

Adding a centrally ducted heat pump to your furnace, rather than replacing it, allows you to use your home’s existing ductwork and use your gas furnace as a backup for particularly cold days. This allows the heat pump to provide energy-efficient heating throughout most of the year, but also ensures that you can stay comfortable when the outside temperature is too cold for most heat pumps to work efficiently on their own.
